Karen's Music
.
Karen has
written nearly 200 songs, but as yet has not recorded the
bulk of them! Those listed below (together with Karen's
short descriptions) are really just a small sampling of
different styles she has written over the years. Some of
these were recorded at home as demos, others are studio
recordings. . |
,It is Karen's hope that more songs together with chord sheets will be added in the not too distant future.

Song of Mary Magdalene
I wrote this as part of a Christian musical I was writing at the time. I later recorded it as part of my first album - Living Water.
Karen M Gray - Song Of Mary Magdalene . We'll Arise
This was written for a women's camp. It is an anthem encouraging women to be all that God has intended them to be, rather than merely spectators of others in ministry. The women's Group Pastor (Ps Donna Mandelkow) had a rough set of words and a vague chorus, when she asked me to create a song for the camp. Although her idea, I basically re-wrote the song. (I re-arranged and, in some cases, re-worded her lyrics, created a melody for the verses and chorus - her chorus became the pre-chorus - and I organised a backing track which I later used to record the song.) You may be interested to know that it was a success at the camp.
. Holy One
I wanted to write a song in the old hymn style, with reverence, awe and heart felt gratitude. As such, I wanted my voice to sound a little angelic in the verses to emphasise the purity of heart as we come before God. It does have a hint of modern in the bridge, but only to emphasise the importance of the cross.
. Jesus Jesus
I wrote this not long after I was saved - I was probably about 17 years old. It is a prayer that is still on my heart after all these years.
. So Great Is Your Love
I recall worshipping on the piano and this song just coming into being. What else can I say?
Karen M Gray - So Great is Your Love . I'm Your Child
I am astounded by God's enormous love for us. That fact that He so loved us that He gave Jesus to redeem us from our debt of sin is mind blowing to say the least. All He desired is that we could come into fellowship with Him. Now we are His children in whom He delights. Wow!!
Karen M Gray - I'm Your Child (Never Alone) . Stand By You
An outreach piece in a slightly blues/jazz style.
. Make My Life Count Lord
This is another prayer of my heart.
Karen M Gray - Make My Life Count Lord . And I Love You
My apologies for the quality of the singing in this recording. It is a raw one take song on the piano at home after a long day singing. There are offish sounding notes - which can happen when you're tired - but the sentiment is there. Thankfully it get's better by the second verse. :-)
. All Your Life
Another outreach song with a wailing guitar break at the end. (Actually I love what was done with the guitar as it almost cries.)
. Dry Times
I wanted to write an encouragement to those who were sad and lonely and feeling like God was a million miles away. It is simply a reminder that God will never leave us nor forsake us.
